Close friend, colleague and member of Yale GALA Andrew Dowe YC ’08, PhD ’20, Associate Director of the Office of LGBTQ Resources and Lecturer and DUS of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Yale, died unexpectedly on January 31, at his home. While we do not yet know what the cause of death was, it appears that Andrew died of natural causes. Andrew organized LGBTQ reunion receptions, student-alumni dinners, and many other events with GALA. We will miss his wit and laughter. 

1. If you are interested in speaking at the memorial for Andrew or have pictures you would like us to share, please be in touch, mickey@yalegala.org.

2. We are collecting photos of Andrew for the memorial. If you have photos you would like us to share, please upload them here.

3. Andrew Dowe Memorial Fund: Yale has started an official Andrew Dowe Memorial Fund that will go to the areas of like the Office of LGBTQ Resources, WGSS, the CCE program, and Berkeley College that meant so much to Andrew. Donors will receive Yale credit if you give to this fund. To make your gift:

4. Weekly Sewing Circle: All are invited to join fellow Yale community members for a Weekly Sewing Circle Michelle Morgan is leading. During the time together we will sew/knit/weave together and process the loss of our dear mentor, colleague and friend, Andrew Dowe. The pieces of artwork will then be united into a wall-hanging in Andrew’s honor that will be hung in the Office of LGBTQ Resources.
