NYC Honors Donald Suggs (Yale PC '83) by Naming Street After Him The corner of Sixth Street and Avenue B in NYC is now Donald Suggs, Jr Way FB Post: https://www.facebook.com/groups/19596347888/posts/10160446529417889
From Jennie Livingston:
My late friend Donald Suggs, Jr., now has his own block, and his own street sign, on East 6th Street between A and B.
I remember: Donald lighting up Cross Campus Library at Yale; Donald saying something very kind to me, something very pointed and particular I'll always remember, at a birthday party in DUMBO; going to canvass for Obama with Donald and Simone, on a rainy day in East Philadelphia, and ending up at a Halloween store on the way back; Donald raising eyebrows at Larry Kramer's weirdly outdated rant at Yale's first LGBT reunion; I remember loving that Donald came to be part of the shoot for the projection piece I made for the Elton John tour, along with Lila.
I have so much joy and grief that Donald's name and stellar presence lives on a street sign: joy, cause he'd love it and deserves it; grief because, of course, he left us too young and it's inconceivable he's not still here.
